Important Notice

Paranormal investigation can be dangerous. Many historic and abandoned locations present real physical hazards. Always prioritize your personal safety over any investigation. Never trespass on private property.

Before You Go

  • Research the location: Know what hazards may be present before visiting.
  • Check legal status: Ensure you have permission to access the property. Many locations require permits or are closed to the public.
  • Tell someone: Always let someone know where you're going and when you expect to return.
  • Check the weather: Avoid investigating during storms, extreme heat, or other dangerous conditions.
  • Never go alone: Always investigate with at least one other person.
  • Have an exit plan: Know your escape routes before entering any structure.

Essential Safety Equipment

  • Flashlights: Multiple light sources with extra batteries
  • First aid kit: Basic supplies for cuts, scrapes, and minor injuries
  • Cell phone: Fully charged with emergency contacts saved
  • Sturdy footwear: Closed-toe boots with good ankle support
  • Dust masks/respirators: N95 or better for dusty environments
  • Gloves: Sturdy work gloves to protect hands
  • Water: Stay hydrated, especially in hot weather
  • Protective eyewear: Safety glasses for debris protection

Emergency Procedures

If Someone Is Injured:
  1. Call 911 immediately if the injury is serious
  2. Do not move the person if a spinal injury is suspected
  3. Apply basic first aid if you are trained
  4. Send someone to meet emergency responders and guide them in
If You Become Lost or Trapped:
  1. Stay calm and conserve your phone battery
  2. Call 911 and provide your last known location
  3. Make noise to help rescuers locate you
  4. Stay put unless there is immediate danger

Legal Considerations

Respect and Ethics

  • Respect the dead: Never disturb graves, remains, or memorial items.
  • Leave no trace: Don't vandalize, litter, or remove items from locations.
  • Respect residents: Keep noise levels down in residential areas.
  • Honor history: Research and acknowledge the historical significance of locations.
  • Be truthful: Report findings honestly and don't fabricate evidence.
